Someone once said to me, “It takes a strong person to reach out for counseling” and I have to agree. After supporting individuals and families for the past decade I see it’s not always easy to pick up the phone and ask for help. Counseling has been shown to improve relationships and strengthen one’s identity. I build a safe and boundaried therapeutic relationship with each client where painful and shameful issues can be processed and emotional hurts can be resolved. The therapeutic relationship is of great importance in achieving improved well being. I will come alongside you to offer hope and walk with you in whatever area you are needing support in. Together we can explore the challenges you’ve faced and how to move forward.
I believe we all want to be heard and validated and we can enhance ways of expressing ourselves when we seek support. My hope is that in working with you, you will be better able to identify and communicate your needs, and find solutions to difficulties you may be experiencing.
I work with teens, tweens and twenty somethings to help them gain skills to better manage their emotions and thoughts with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior therapy. I work using a strength based, solution focused, client centered approach to help my clients meet their goals. I am passionate about helping teens/tweens and their parents find connection, and address areas of conflict. Whether you or your loved one is struggling with anxious thoughts, depression, stress or a big life transition I would love to walk alongside you in your journey.
For the past decade I have provided therapy to individuals in hospitals, schools and an outpatient clinic. These experiences allowed me to work with a variety of clients with differing backgrounds. I worked with individuals with: mood disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and behavioral issues.
I earned both my Masters of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Diego State University.
While it’s hard to pick up the phone and reachout for support I commend you for taking the first step in searching for the right person to support you.
